I always tell people that the worst it can do is nothing. Did your chonograph numbers show any difference? I've never crimped a 17 as I was done with CF 17's in the mid eighties.~Muir
Hmm not completely banned in Scotland though... it's possible to reach Scottish MV & ME with 130/140gn bullets and it's still legal in England.
Though I firmly believe restricting it was a stupid decision. The 160gn RN puts reds down with authority without significant meat damage..
I used to crimp 30-30’s used in my marlin (pretty heavy recoil) as they were sliding inward into the cartridge case...other than that I’ve never bothered and don’t really see the point.
