As above has anyone made there own crow decoys with good effect ?. Ive currently got the Sillosock decoys & a FF6 Flapper which works to good effect but would like to add more to the pattern another set of sillosock decoys will be added when shooting funds allow it but thought it would be worth posting up if anyone has made there own homemade ones?

Cheers

I have used small black refuse sacks/black tape over a full bodied pigeon decoy. Remember the birds are coming from a long way so make one and go back and look at it from 200 yds against your decoys.

The trick is get some on cradles or sticks under the chin asap

Ah good idea! I had thought about covering one of my half shell pigeon decoys in a flocked type material to see if that would work. I agree with the cradles & neck props I've some cradles already but could do with order some more espically the longer length ones to put into standing crops when pigeon decoying

I found that, also, shoot one dead and lay it, that single one, on its back with wings outstretched worked, sometimes, for some reason or other. As TIM.243 has said elsewhere if the birds, and especially pigeons, want to come in they'll come in to almost anything or to no decoys at all on the right bit of the field. There's neither rhyme nor reason (maybe the wind, maybe they've eaten that patch the day before, maybe it's near a "sitty tree" or flightline) but they just seem to want to come in and keep coming in.

Use standard cradles and get some lengths of bean cane as it has a hole in it which the cradle ground part will fit in.
might need a bit of tape if it is windy as they can spin. light cheap.....

If you shoot any laid barley/wheat and use dead birds on cradles put the birds out where you want them as I saw a lad put the cradles out then went and got the birds to put on them...green cradles green wheat stems...lol they blend in better than Fallow lol

I made some.

Black correx silhouette, black bin liner taped over the body to catch any breeze & inflate, wire coat hanger glued on to stick 'em in the ground.

Main reason was so I had some super light ones for carrying when I can't drive to my set up and/or it's a bloody long walk.

Do they work? Yes.

Prefer flocked full bodies if I can, but my home-made jobbies have their place, and do what's needed.
