Cruise control issue nissan x trail

08 x trail 2.0 manual diesel Aventura.

When acquired, cruise would engage.
Shortly after, after 10-20 mins, cruise would no longer engage. Cruise tell light lights but small 'set' light just flashes.
Also, when it did work, it would suddenly just disengage after 10-15 mins and then just flash.
Now the small tell just flashes All the time. I have lifted the break pedal but makes no difference.
Any ideas of what issue might be or parts that may have failed. Is it an annoying electrical glitch or a money sucker. Thanks

Do the rest of the switches on the steering wheel work properly and in all positions of turn?

I had a similar issue on my 57 plate when I had it. Turned out to be the "clock spring" which powers the switches on the wheel.

I remember it also listed a few scenarios in the manual under which cruise wouldn't work. But I don't have the manual (or the car...) any more so I can't check.

Also, I'm assuming there are no other warning lights on? Cruise will not set if any other systems are "faulty" and I think that included if you re-set a fault code without actually fixing it (mine would throw fault codes for the EGR all the time and would go in and out of limp mode at random. I'm fairly sure cruise wouldn't work at all until thay was rectified, even when the light was off and car not in limp mode. But I could be misremembering, it was a few years ago...)

Unlikely as DPF warning light came on and went into limp - well certainly lost power. Faults cleared and regen done. Engine itself seems to be back on song

Glancing down the list of thread titles on the main page I keep reading this one as Cruise missile on Nissan X-Trail and I can't help thinking why doesn't the OP just stick a Blaser out of the window like everyone else.

Now no longer an issue. Reader in OBD didn't show any faults. But due to a life changing injury, I can only drive an auto so it will be sold. Such a shame as - for an x-trail - it's quiet a nice spec car.

Oh dear DD, sorry to hear about your injury - I do hope you are still able to get out for a shot…..
