CWD head prep.

Hi Everyone

I am away to prep my first CWD buck head. I have done plenty of roe and reds but never a CWD. I am looking to go for full skull mount with lower jaw included. My usual process is skin, take lower jaw off, boil, pressure wash, final quick boil, pressure wash any remaining bits, peroxide cream for 12 hours then rinse off. The only thing I am unsure of is the lower jaw, do I just keep it on while skinning and boiling and do my best to get everything off, or remove it then reassemble.

Cheers

I remove them part way through the first boil, no idea if that’s the right way but seems to work for me.
I also try not to boil the lower jaw too much as have known all teeth the fall out and jaw to split in half

Just done my second one exactly as described by yourself. I didn’t want the bottom jaw so just pulled it off they weren’t as strongly attached as a roe. Just be mindful that they can go soft really quick and if you pressure wash be quite far away or you can blast holes in it or bits off.
