Skull prep advice

Hi all,

I’ve done some fallow heads recently with the normal method (skin, boil, pressure wash, peroxide for 24hrs), which have largely come out well however a couple of the heads have brown areas as shown in the images. I’m not entirely sure why this has happened other than thinking I may not have peroxided the areas well the first time. Any ideas or advice? I have tried re-peroxiding the affected areas but this hasn’t helped much.

Thanks in advance.

Brown indicates meat or skin. I would reboil again using soda crystals and a dishwasher tablet in the water. Jet wash and then apply plenty of peroxide and layer on kitchen roll all over skull and peroxide over that too. Leave 24 hours then hot rinse in sink. Mine come out well using that. Just done a fallow buck.

I buy it off eBay there's a couple of really good UK based chemical companies on there.
5L 12% often costs me £15-17 (usually free shipping) peroxide can be reused very easily, though If your going to rebottle it it will require a pin-prick in the top of the container as it breaks down into its base gases.

12% Is strong enough It will chemical burn, though for me said chemical burns dont actually hurt so I just wing it if I get a dribble or two on my fingers I just finish what I'm doing then go rinse it off (def dont stick your entire hand in there!)

With small discoloured bits like that I've had success using a hot air paint stripper (carefully) to heat the skull up then re-apply hydrogen peroxide on kitchen roll. Like others I get 12% solution online.

As suggested by many- dishwasher tablet in the boil.
Careful on the pressure wash too. Personally I’d leave it and not risk any damage especially if you’re going to shield mount it.
Skull looks a nice white otherwise. Good job 👍

But hairdresser cream peroxide as said above … it’s viscous does away with kitchen paper and paint it on it stays on pretty much contact wise …. And can just give a quick reconstruction whenever you pass … roe heads fit well in plastic Chinese dish
