CZ527 Scope Mounts ?

Hi can anyone advise me of which scope rings are best or will even fit. Rifle is a CZ527 hornet with a mod on. Scope is a meopta 1 inch tube with a 50mm objective.ive heard the bolt might be a problem. Someone said Warne medium but said it will be close to barrel just wondered if anyone can recommend something that will fit?

Warne mediums are a gamble, standard CZ factory rings measure .550" from top of dovetail to bottom of scope.
I use mediums on mine, but I have ground a fair bit off the bolt knob.
(medium Warne are about .450")

Neil. :)

No matter what make or ring height you get, these will fit a 50mm objective. Every make on the market accommodates the angular base of the CZ527 bolt, so there's plenty of clearance ....... all trumpets way up to and (probably) beyond an 8x56 S&B will fit.

Because of the crook-backed bolt, the critical dimension on 'scopes is the size of the eyepiece. The problem here is to find a configuration that mounts the 'scope low enough to align the stock with your face. The CZ527 stock needs to be redesigned to a Monte Carlo shape, or have an adjustable comb feature. The 'American' model is better than the 'Classic' hogs-back, but isn't ideal.

same as the BRNO Fox Md 2

I run low mounts and 50 objective Nikko
I tried to run the same mounts with a 44mm objective scope but it fouled the occular bell

that is despite the bolt on mine being heavily modified

totally dependant on the scope you wish to fit

Try Millet mounts, here is a set of low 30mm mounts which gives clearance on this 50mm objective lense but its only slight but enough. had to grind the bold handle slightly for it to work.

I like the standard Hilver mounts. good value for money too and can be niter blued to a nice finish ;-)

personally I lover the hogback style stock, I like monte carlo on other rifles but it hogback is sweet on the wee 20cal BRNO/CZ's.

just don't go overboard on the magnification front...I run a 3-9X36 Zeiss on the .223 which is fine for anything roe or varmint related out to distances that I wouldn't want to shoot and sits nice and low. 56mag might sit very high on the rifle on a hogback stock..but can't personally see the need for that big an objective bell.

edit - note, if you're left handed, use the Warne mounts as they're reversible and the tab-lock slot on the rear bridge is reversed on CZ left handers...

now that is an interesting attention to detail that I was not aware of.
+1 to CZ

those look very interesting

I searched and searched but you have more chance of finding a picture of obama with a goat than a detailed picture of the design of the rings!

how the hell do the work?
I can guess the top cap is holdng the sides together but does it slide on?

Once you've placed the two halves around scope you tease into place the razor sharp top section that is machined to fit in one position only. Each one is marked (indexed) to correspond with the correct ring halves.

You then drop the spud (ring bottom section) into the bases and simply tighten equally the left & right cone head hex screws.

To my eye the are most aesthetically pleasing on the market as they add nothing and appear to be an integral part of scope tube.

Not cheap but quality never is.

Cheers
