I've made my mind up that I'm getting a 457 in .17 hmr when I shift one of my other 2 hmr's.
But I'm wanting a wooden stock to replace the synthetic stock on the 457 Varmint with the 16" barrel.
Now II can get a 20" varmint with a wooden stock. But for some strange reason, they don't do it with the 16" ?.
I dare say that, if I buy a stock, I'll also need to procure a trigger guard and a magazine plate as the ones on the synthetic stock are moulded into the stock ?.
So. My question is, where would I buy these from ?. I did a quick search and found nothing. So any pointers would be gratefully recieved.
Thanks in advance.

Ordering from your local RFD or the importers would be fruitless I afraid. I'm still waiting nearly a year but in the meantime a 457 Royal stock came available on here complete with all bottom metals and fixings and because I was after said stock anyway I bought it.

Have you had a look here? It seems these parts are in stock;

You'll pay VAT and imports no doubt

Be aware that the synthetic stock is shorter in the fore end than some of the wooden stocks.

This brings its own issues when you are combining it with a 16" barrel and an over barrel moderator.

I have a CZ457 MTR in 16", and a Wildcat Panther will not fit, as it fouls the stock before it it is fully seated.

It fit's fine on the Synthetic with a 16" barrel.

Your only real chance is to watch for a take off stock becoming available. You are absolutely right with regard to stock options with the 16" varmint, synthetic only. I have the 17hmr 16" and got a Boyds walnut stock for it direct from Boyds. It was feasible because we were buying 3 stocks at the same time.
I priced a varmint stock from CZ directly and the cost of the stock and extortionate shipping ruled that out.
The MTR walnut stocks are the most common to appear for sale as boys put that rifle in a chassis. You have 2 choices really. Buy the 16" synthetic and wait for a stock to appear or buy the 20" and have it cut and threaded.

Thank you buddy. I can always take a bit off the front of a wooden stock though if needs be ?. ;)

Thanks bud. My main "problem" is that I'm "one of those", a lefty, so that basically rules the MTR out straight away. We'll see how we go on. ;)

Of course, but being a lefty you prob need to see if the wood stocks suit. The LRP & MTR stocks are not ambidextrous, so you would have to look at the others.
I've done a bit of research and I would buy a new 457 Varmint with the ambi wood stock. But. For some ridiculous reason, they only do them with a 20" barrel and not the 16" that I want. That's only available with the synthetic stock. ☹️

Frustrating.Would it be worth seeing if a RFD would build you what you want? They buy in a 20" wood and a 16" synthetic, sell you the 16" in a wood stock, and keep the 20" synthetic for someone else? Only two action bolts to swap. Even if having to pay a modest premium.

Other option is to buy a 16" synthetic, and replace the stock, either with a CZ or an aftermarket, like this

I see Livens list a synthetic at £75, although out of stock, so reckon it would def be saleable.

I like the two synthetic stocks I have on my hunting rifles, but I also have MTR & LRP stocks, which are great for target usage.

Cheers for that bud. You're right. They're there, but for some reason, the drop down menu to select country won't scroll past S ?. ☹️
