Dangerous offensive weapons bill petition

Not many need or want to shoot a 50 cal and the fact this bill includes rapid fire guns adds to the apathy. This is an erosion of shooters rights but will not affect a deer stalker. I would suggest opposing it on principle but I wouldn't hold your breath?

You need to separate 50 cal from mars to have a campaign. In my opinion. FWIW.

I am as guilty of apathy as others. I see a clear parallel with with this, as with trophy hunting. More knowledgable members can correct me if I am wrong.

Most bans in the past have been instigated, wrongly imo, by atrocities such as Dunblane and the hand gun ban.

This time the antis in the government choose the low volume used firearms, in the same way as antis in hunting, started with the emotional animals that few of us hunt.

Make no mistake, when they get this into the book, the next 'easy target' will be identified. Each time affecting a few more of us. They are control freaks and will keep chipping away at our way of life until it is unrecognisable.john

You are perfectly correct. I can see their eventual aim being to restrict firearms to professional use only - so professional deer culling and the like. I can quite imagine that being the objective, and sadly there is so little understanding of the countryside from our now massively urban population that there would be little public objection beyond ourselves.

By all means sign an online petition. However. I don't think it's any substitute for writing to your MP - repeatedly, If necessary.

This is not IMO about saving, or even approving of, high-ME or lever-release rifles. It's about resisting disproportionate restrictions on law-abiding shooting-folk.
