The ongoing whisky thread has prompted this post.
Circa mid 2018 I had an idea to buy the old bastard a unique bottle of grog and after some searching I found a mob that offered engraving on the bottle so I ordered a bottle with mine and my kids names engraved on the bottler. David refused to open it " no not until you are here to partake, I will only drink it with you". The tyranny of distance reared its ugly head many times and there were times when we did meet up that we drank something else.
The final time I saw him the unopened bottle was handed back to me (by D)
I said to my kids that when all the stars align we will gather from far and wide and meet at David`s final resting place, open the bottle and have a couple of shots each, as is, no water, nothing but the grog as that is how he and I always drank it. Well I do admit that there were a few morning coffee`s had with a shot in them.
