That would definitely be a satisfying approach, but a rather expensive one, buying a new roe sack after every successful stalk!
Sounds like a good option.Probably a good plan, hadn't thought of it myself. Would putting the sack in a large plastic bag and freezing it work? At least it wouldn't put chemicals into your venison.
This season seems to be tick heaven. Loads of the bloody things everywhere.Sounds like a good option.
Taxidermy forums seem to vary, suggesting up to a week to kill ticks.
@sikamalc - Any light you could shed on this?
The added benefit of freezing, is that the sack could go straight in the freezer and then once defrosted all the blood etc would just wash out with a hose and can then be cleaned ready to go again.
Interesting this, I just thought it would disrupt enough cell walls. Microwave an option? (provided all plastic fastenings)Freezing doesn't kill ticks in my experience
Similar thoughts were going through my own warped mind !this thread could be read two ways, I was thinking of how you would stop the deer moving
I wouldn't know.Interesting this, I just thought it would disrupt enough cell walls. Microwave an option? (provided all plastic fastenings)
David.
Yup, which is what got me thinking about how I can further reduce the risk of getting tagged or having them take up residence in the car or house. This season seems to be tick heaven. Loads of the bloody things everywhere.
That's what I have been doing todate, I just like the idea of maximizing the chances of killing rather than just containing the little sods.As for a Roe sack, wash it out well with some disinfectant and hang it out to dry, that's what I do.
