Dealing with a suburban fox

Need ideas for dealing with a suburban fox getting into my garden, it's making an awful mess and the lawn stinks of fox among other mess that it makes.

Lots of cats about so I think a snare is out of the question unless people know of a snare that will let cats out but hold a fox?

Shooting with a rimmy with bags of sand is an option but unsure of the old bill's view on this - ticket is open if that helps.

Ideas?

Bait into a safe spot and shoot from upstairs window with moderated .22lr.
Either use thermal/NV, or illuminate the area with a red light.
You could have a movement sensor on a red floodlight, so you'd know when he was about.
Aye that's what I'm leaning towards, one small hiccup I have is that the only rimmy I have is a 17hmr. Perhaps if shot from inside the garage it might subdue the report somewhat?

Or the garage might work like a sounding box and make it louder! You won’t know Until you find out. Get a 22lr. If you have a 17hmr you should be able to justify it and they are cheap as they come. Wouldn’t use foxes in the back garden as a reason.

Just out of interest if you shot another fox somewhere else and put the dead one in your garden do you think it would get the hint
I now it would work with me 🫣

Honestly it's the best tool for this if only the noise wasn't a concern!
Ask yourself what it is like come the week before Nov 5th and a week after every nutter letting of aerial bombs rockets
one 1.7hmr bang all over, these kids have ignition interrupters fitted to their cars drive up and down with 3-4 loud bangs from the exhaust all the time.

Honest just shoot it........... Stop fussing
