A few months back I spotted a guy running two retrievers through a bit of rough ground on a farm I shoot. It's about 1/4 acre of over grown unused land next to a byway. I rang the farmer to let him know but neither of us spoke to the bloke as he was doing no harm.
Yesterday farmer spots the same bloke doing the same thing, bloke packs up and leaves before he can jump in the landrover. Later that day he's back. This time with three other cars, retrievers and spaniels working the rough, doing no harm but enough to spook the lambing ewes two fields away. This time farmer drives over. The guy with the retrievers is very polite and says no problem when he's asked to leave, which they all did. The others with him had a few terriers all muzzled and on leads. I spoke to farmer last night and we can't fathom what they were up to. Any ideas? It's fairly remote 200m off a b road with a empty but accessible barn next to it, no rabbit, fox or other holes. I'd like to think it's all innocent but seems odd to me.
