decent cheaper centrefire rifles

Crikey I paid too much for mine then!
Can’t believe you had only for one! 😂

I’ve had probably somewhere well north of 50 different rifles, thinking about it more, I’ve never purchased one that was new, and apart from a collectors piece, don’t think I’ve ever paid more than £450 for a hunting rifle and £250 for optics.

I bought a brand new Tikka T3X lite for £850 two years ago. It was advertised on Gunmart by a dealer, couldn't believe the price so paid a deposit and had to wait for my one for one before I could collect it.

That’s what a t3 ‘should’ cost. At most. Look at what they cost in the US! Crazy 🤪

Lots of great suggestion BUT the best value second hand rifle in the UK is the Roesler Titan. I had the Titan3, still cant adequately explain why I sold it. IIRC I only got £350 for it. They just don't have the marketing budget so are unknown / unfashionable.
For : 3 lug, takedown, Walther barrel
Against: plastic trigger guard (upgrade available ) hated being fed through the port.
As well as two tikka T3 , 695 I have the titan 3 and 6. 22.250 and 6.5x55 . I have used the 6.5 all year with an Arken zulus I have only missed two deer due to pilot eras
An under rated rifle.
The 22.250 i had trouble loading , I took the magazine plate off the spring was not sitting in place now all sorted.

I’ve become very attached to my savage 16 with a plastic stock and accutrigger. I think are were cheap new and this was cheap unused from holts. It’s a 243 but I’d happily take one in 270. It’s been completely faultless over a few years and a few hundred rounds and is fairly accurate.

I would say that if the savage axis is cheaper made, perhaps spend the extra quid for the 16. I wouldn’t want to be using a cheaper and nastier gun!

I have two centrefire rifles, neither of which was prohibitively expensive:
P-H Safari Deluxe in .243 @ £150
P-H Safari Deluxe in .270 @ £170

Both in regular use, and both have accounted for plenty of deer under my ownership. No doubt both had been well used before I bought them, and I'd like to think they'll still be taking deer long after they've passed out of my hands.

I’ve been looking at these what are your thoughts on them I can’t see many reviews in them tbh I’ve been looking at the lupo in .223
Unbeatable for the money
Name another rifle with a 10 and 25yr guarantee on mechanics and coatings

Accuracy card naming the test ammo with every rifle is better than most shooters, well under sub moa
Well made and adjustable like a semi auto stock

Always bought 2nd hand and so far never had a problem, all rifles shoot really well.
CZ601 243
CZ601 308
CZ 22 lr
Rem 700 270
Sako A1 .222

Just about to get a rem 700 in 17 rem so fingers crossed it won’t be the first non shooter.
There are loads of lightly used second hand out there, it’s a real consideration.

I am on a small budget so I only buy second hand rifles. They are excellent value for money and all shoot better than I can. A good cheap source is Holt's auctions where I have bought two BSA Hunter rifles, one in 7x57 and one in .222 which are superb quality and only cost a few hundred quid. Another good option is to browse around your local small gunshops as they usually have a bunch of dusty and little used hunting rifles from the 1960s or 1970s on sale for small money.

I would buy a recent model of say a Tikka , fewer and fewer dealers put old rifles up for retail sale now and regards getting or making parts ? ?? How many gun shops have staff that can make / fix , not many !
A brand new basic tikka is about a grand Hardly used ones have to loose at least 20% or greater

Tell you what, the finest factory rifle ever made IMHO was the tikka m65. There’s a virtually new 270 for sale on here from today for £299. Best £300 you could spend, the triggers are world class, as is their accuracy. But, it’s got the original iron sights, and be warned that removing and threading for a mod will put you in a short queue to hell
