Hi looking for info
Seen a few dedicated trucks / Argos etc with a sort of reel with nylon webbing used for recovery
Interested in any detailed photos or info of what sort of reel this is maybe a mooring reel for Boats
and also how is the recovery carried out
Is the webbing run through a capstain winch or is the actual drum driven itself
Thanks for any help

The photo of the reel in the back of the pick up I take you have to manually reel that back in when. It running through the capstan winch

Yes - as you see of the one in the logging basket, it has a handle on it to wind on the rope. All of the reels I've seen/used are purely for storing and paying out the rope. The rope was then used as a long drag line line from a good surface through a snatch block, be it the Hilux driving down the track or the quad. The last picture is my current set up with a rope bag (also holds strops and a snatch block to change pull direction) and my capstan winch. The rope bag stuffs down a lot smaller than a reel and is easier to accommodate in my vehicle.
