DeLisle .45

Hi John

I am likely to have handled one when toured the Small Arms Collection at Warminster with Peter Laidler.............with many other very interesting items :)

There are two companies in the UK that I know are making them, Barbican armoury in Durham, and TW Chambers in Dingwall. Both are making them true to spec and while the former has a two year waitlist the latter has two in stock as of a couple of weeks ago.

Video below featuring one by TW chambers at different ranges.

They will never be as quiet as SUPPRESSED subsonic 22LR. Unsuppressed long barrel (700mm) maybe.

Flight noise alone is far greater, although velocity being out of the transsonic zone really helps. 850fps is noticeably quieter than 950-1000fps, and that is also noticeably quieter than 1050fps. Also you need swipe baffles or wet suppressor to get rid of the muzzle report.

45ACP matches 308 bolthead and 9mm matches 223. But you really need a fixed ejector (bolt can be cut and ejector fitted to magazine adaptor block). Or rear locking lugs and new / converted bolt along with barrel protruding to the action. I don't like straightpulls, but AR-15 platform has the 9mm and maybe also 45 (they're available in semiauto but I don't know if anybody has done locking bolt).

I own a ' De Lisle' Carbine, built on a No. 4
I've recently had it rebarrelled at great cost.
It's unique, and better than the SMLE versions. It has a 7 round magazine, integrated into the original magazine, so catches ejected cases. It also has a micrometer adjustable diopter sight.
£4000, if anyone is interested.

I'd like more info on that please. I'm looking for one. Could you PM me

An old post, I know, however, I thought I'd reply with the following, which is relevant to this post.
I'm selling my very unique re - barrelled DeLisle. It was re - barreled about 200 rounds ago by C&G Firearms
It's built on a No. 4 action, catches the empties, and can be used with open sights, or a scope. At present mine is wearing a HAKKO 6x42 BDC scope.
It shoots veey well.
Due to its uniqueness, I'm asking £2750.
