Derbyshire Renewal In.

Renewal notice came in plenty of time. I set about sorting out the application. Firstly I went to a farmer I met a while back when he kindly helped me extricate my work vehicle from a field with his tractor. He kindly signed up for me shooting on his land to add to the others.
I have stalking booked later in the year and forwarded them the emails confirming it.
Next the on line form, now this has to be completed in one go it doesn't auto save. But while completing it froze twice and I had to restart it. Now it's going well until I come to the medical declaration from the doctor. I have already talked to them and emailed a pdf. of the proforma document and agreed to pay their fee , now this is private work they say and I am paying but it takes eight weeks,as the FEO said not really good enough, all the doctor does is tick the seven boxes just I do on the application form, but advised me to fill in the rest of the form and they would compile everything in the office.
Except you can't progress with the medical field empty, so I wrote an explanation in Word and saved it as a pdf and dragged it into the box and hey presto you can move on.
I filled in all my guns details straight off my old certificates. Got a work colleague and a neighbour to be my referees, might be an idea to get their email addresses too especially if your application on the last minute as it saves post time. You pay online too,
Everything was done and I sent it off. Then I got an email , I need to email copies of my certificates and land forms, I have an app on my phone Genius Scan , so I scanned the documents and emailed them from my phone. Now for a couple of weeks it's gone quiet so I am hoping I have sent everything required.
Many changes since my last renewal.

You did the right thing with the medical. I stupidly waited for my medical forms to come back and ended up having to put my rifles into storage. It cost me the best part of £300.

This was during covid so things were a bit crazy.

It will be interesting to see how fast things get turned around.
