Digital NV.

Had another Magpie moment this Tuesday,
I have been watching the advances in the "Other" stuff as opposed to thermal imaging, I have watched with interest our friends in "Out Last Night" with their input on ARKEN / DNT stuff, So I purchased from Ian @ Blackwood outdoors a DNT unit with onboard making of toast :norty: (all the stuff I have previously tried to avoid), Impressed with the obvious quality of the construction of the unit, I noticed straight off after a weighing session of my thermal T- Ceptor against the DNT (fully set up with rails etc), from memory around a full 800 grammes lighter for the DNT, only downside in a change is giving up field of view, but not a big issue.
Up at the farm with it, (with the thermal ready to go back on if a problem were to be encountered), zeroing was completed @ 108 yards in fairly quick time, with allowances for sausage fingers & mental blockages along the way, :-|, colour rendering was very good with two choices of presentation, I did read the manual as I had an electron microscope with me (not!),, A definite improvement required there, Battery life looks to be much better than quoted although the laser was not played with.

Job remaining today, become victorious over the ballistic input thingy.:-|

Hope it goes well. Swapped from Thermal to an Alpex recently on the .243...just getting used to NV again after 4 years with pure thermal. XM50 is going onto the HMR for bunnies so will still get used :)

How come? What made you change?
Whilst I love the thermal I was having a few issues with the scope and started to lose a bit of confidence in it so wanted to start afresh so to speak. NV is a lot cheaper and whilst it has its drawbacks it also has some advantages. Whilst I have never had any issues with quarry ID in the thermal (and if I'm not 100% sure I ll wait until I am) ID in the NV is easier. Also NV allows you to see obstructions much better then Thermal does.

If this ballistic calculator comes good, I will consider selling the T-Ceptor, just read a comment from Bruce on Kenbro's calculations mix, seems it may be just a fettling situation.
