Digital or glass.

I went to the stalking show the other week on the Saturday, I noticed the Swarovski site and other glass sites seemed to be not as full as they were years ago. However, those selling digital sites were run off their feet. Maybe my timing was off.
Now, however, I had a think about my rifles and I have a z6i on my deer stalking rifle, but all others are either digital or thermal. My C50 for example is a fantastic piece of kit albeit it heavy as xxxx, but of course, there are things like the Alpex etc that are out now, which are lighter.

Now, I can’t remember if I saw it here is somewhere else but, I saw the comment, unless you are shooting a few hundred yards over a hill, then a digital scope is better.

Personally, I am waiting for the release of the new Hik 4k bino/nv/thermal/range finder and considering selling my Leica binos/rangefinder. Yes, you will need to ensure you have spare batteries, yes, they are more prone to breaking, but the all around usability is interesting.

So, what is the view of the great unwashed. Should Zeiss and Swarovski be worried, is it a phase? What would you buy?
Defo glass with add on

Well I’ve been warming to a hik Nv for a little use for the hour before and after, even over the past two days been in conversation with a couple of guys on the SD getting towards purchase time for a non RF ONE
THEN I watched 3 videos on setting up and function buttons OMG the scope view looks like a tv screen with all the options up all at the same time,( I've 2 pulsars Nv 2 pard 007V and a t ceptor and I can use all of them and set em up and alter with ease ) the hic seems like it has too much muck filling the screen, ive no need for a RF pip high mag etc etc and some I didn’t know what it’s for

How do you guys who have and properly use one find its benefits, and do you use all the menagerie on the screen, I was pretty set to get it, now not so sure just for 2 hrs max per day, it just looks confusing

I don’t use one but i know can get rid of all that guff on the screen, the non LRF one will be easy to use once you have zeroed it, walk around with it on standy and flick it on for the shot.

Exactly. In my experience if you have lots of deer to shoot, get a few friends, colleagues, employees together. Put them out in various positions and take out several in a short period of time. Far more effective to take 20 in one day and leave between three or four of you them alone for 19 days, than trying to take to one or two at time on your own and out every day.
That theory might work for a very local problem but the number of deer who have built up over the country are in truth only a problem to the media who like to get involved, people in the industry as that is what they choose to do for a job and the rest who like to talk about it (just like what I am doing know).
The list would be as long as your arm my arm and a dozen others, there would be all the safe havens deer know to go to, deer being pushed across roads into traffic!
Also who would we get? all the willing people with a closed ticket, blanket permissions! flooding game dealers poor shot deer lost deer oh good God. GAG

D-Day is the 6th of June not Deer-Day

Just look at the crosshairs and ignore everything else. All you need to know is
On/off.
Zoom in/out
Parallax ring

Safety button and trigger.
It is not difficult. Honestly. I just picked up a scope with tilt and compass. Wtf is the compass for. I just ignore it.
Actually, thinking about it, it might help me find that rabbit or fox I shot and spent 1/2 hour wandering around looking for. Ok, so maybe I will give the compass a try at some point.

Chill. To each their own….

Since changing jobs and no longer doing shift work but a 0830-1730 means I struggle to get out stalking for the majority of the doe season.

I don't have cull targets (the farmer just wants to see a few less) and I'm very much recreational but having the Zulus on my stalking rifle means I can make the most of the little time I am able to get out, especially with the constant rain we have had for months now.

If I hadn't been using digital then I'd have an empty freezer.

Pellet Pinger, I do not agree with all your remarks, but you are ..........RIGHT. Yes, Thermal would be able to "see" what is beyond the target.

I tested a Steiner version of the Burris Veracity a few years ago with a HUD with ballistic calculator which could also pair via Bluetooth with a set of LRF binoculars either for you to use solo or if you're working with a spotter. Very cool and very accurate and if working in a pair it massively sped up target acquisition and the first round hits.
