Divers

Are you tradesman that can dive?
I'd imagine that being able to dive alone isn't much use.Or do divers do trade skills on there course !?

Never in a million years would I do that.
Signed off plenty dive permits offshore and done a lot of recreational diving but that’s as close as I’d want to get.

I like my knees and elbows too much lol.

Looked into rebreather but even that was too tech for me, I liked my diving easy and warm thank you very much.

Gave up to look after mum & dad as you can't be away diving and leave them, then the Spaniels arrived and back to square one...I used my knowledge of working in the Red Sea to take a lot of people on trips as that way they could build on skills and the results were noticeable. But a day out on the hard boat with a bunch of divers bagging lobsters, crabs and avoiding the conger's was hard to beat.

@K,

Sorrt to disappoint ,no not really I've a Sako .243 carbonlight with a z6 and I have a cheeky little treat or twoa Knive made by Richie Nankz Knivez and Pulsar xg35lrf.

I was utterly disappointed when I first met sat divers.

Thought they spoke like that on the surface too 😁

Fair play lads, it’s not a job I’d want to do though.

Never did any mixed gas, But I used to do temperature tests in Snowdonia quarries, on new models of suits or dry bags that came into my mates dive shop & school, 10 degrees was a good day.
Did a small amount of Broco work in rivers, I made sure I was friendly with the the top side switcher though,;)
Happy & Prosperous New Year All.

Aside from 2nd class BSAC recreational diver and a PADI instructor I did the BAD LADS course at Ft Bovi in Plymouth back in the early 80s with the Manpower Service Commission (as was)

Ships Diving Officer in the RN

Haven’t dived in years

Wouldn’t recognise the kit used today

Similar story for me, BSAC 2nd class, Ft Bovisand Joint Services Sub Aqua Diving Centre course, RAF Brawdy SAC Training Officer. Based at RSAF Tabuk, Saudi Arabia with excellent diving at Haql on the Red Sea coast near the Jordan border spoilt any ideas of recreational diving in the UK again. Had a coupled of dives off Florida while at the Sikorsky Helicopter training centre at West Palm Beach early 1980's, last dive was about 25 years ago in the Seaworld aquarium in Queensferry, Edinburgh, actually a great experience. Likewise would not know where to start with today's gear. Hat off to the sat guys, never considered that as a way to earn a living.
