I have just closed my ALLSTAR fuel card account as they are now charging an annual fee of £30 per card and i am no longer using supermarket fuels. V Power for me paid by debit card. More expensive per litre but cheaper per mile and nicer to drive.

I always make sure I get the limit, even if it means having to take a couple of Jerry cans. That way I don’t lose out

tbh sometimes the queue at the pay at the pumps is longer than the kiosk pumps so I'll switch and if need be take a couple of extra minutes and pay at the kiosk

I was thinking more of the typical 20% to 30% that most credit card providers apply to accounts.

Don't use Asda Chelmsford....but Sainsbury's take cash like a number of others...

I will pay at the kiosk from now on then if I visit a tesco! I always have to go in the kiosk after to get my receipt anyway because the machines out of papar

This happens in France. Most places only take card payments and I’ve seen the deposit for foreign cards be from 120 up to 360 euros depending on the pump.

Almost had a heart attack last year when I filled up 20 euros and my account balance was down 380 euros for 3 weeks until the deposit was released.

I would only use supermarket fuel if it was free.

Asda usually make a charge of £1 this is just to verify that the bank account is real, they then put a limit of £99 per transaction, I have never seen the £1 charge appear on my account, it is merely a safety measure against phoney cards.
I think the Tesco charge only concerns Credit Cards.

i wish i could fill my van up for less than £100, never had an issue with supermarket fuel, but i do alot of miles. after the other thread about fuel i tried expensive stuff 3 tanks no difference in economy or drive just more money wasted
