Send it back signed, tracked and insured. Having had expensive items lost in the post, it's certainly a false economy not to pay for the extra protection. Or contact the shop you bought it from and see what they have to say.
Send it back...... insured.... and then on the off chance anything happens you'll be covered.
I had my docter sent back via ruag and it went to a private individual as opposed to the docter factory..... I might still have the documenation somewhere...... but either way.... it came back sorted and serviced in a few weeks... I had to pay for a new turret cover and postage and that's it.
