Driving Conviction - Will I Lose FAC/SGC?

an old farmer years ago, who drank like a fish once told me he wasnt bothered about losing his drivers licence, coz he,s never had one and he,d been driving for over forty years bs

I don’t see a pattern in the way tickets are revoked

Some first time DUI offenders are revoked instantly.
Some appear to have to prove they really like doing it and get caught twice.
I know people who have been revoked for explaining the law on shooting sheep worrying dogs to members of the public..
I know people with driving bans for totting up of speeding penalty points who were not revoked.
I know people who were revoked for getting divorced!

It it usually the Dangerous Driving and Drunk Driving codes that get binned

What you appear to have done is run a red light, regardless of the consequences of your particular situation
It would surprise me if the code taken at face value would lead to revocation but I do agree it depends on the local firearms office

I speculate that there are so few firearms officers dealing with the management of renewals and grants that something like this may not even end up on anyone’s desk!!!

I also agree that if there is a date set for court your guns should be lodged elsewhere with an RFD.
Guns lodged with Friend’s will still be seized unless actually transferred
The damage comes when they are seized and stored inappropriately

I would take good legal advice. If you are a member of the BASC or similar take advice from the legal / firearms department.

A lot is down to individual circumstances of both your own, and that of the local chief officer of police.

Taking the advice of say BASC is that they see many cases and can give you advice based on wide experience.

Most of us on SD can give you an opinion based on our own, often very limited, experience.

I don’t think there was any special extenuating circumstances.

My barrister argued that there was quite some time since my last motoring offence which was minor, the inability to do my job without a licence due to the remoteness where I live, this was during covid and the motorway was exceptionally empty in fact I was the only vehicle in the picture.

In modern cars 100 mph or more really does not seem fast, I’m not trying to boast I admit I was in the wrong but a long day coupled with a quiet motorway I put my foot down to get home and got caught, poor judgement on my behalf.

However I did contact BASC to discuss as I thought I was going to loose my licence. However that was not the case.
What car was it?

Completely agree with the 3rd paragraph - it’s about time we updated the speed limits in my opinion, the U.K. seems to be the only country where limits are going the wrong way but I guess that’s as much to do with the green pandering brigade as it is with revenue generation.

There seems to be little logic in the limits that are placed in some areas.

Having driven in many other countries our road systems are poorly designed and maintained and authorities should be held accountable more often for the damage and issues the roads cause.

Gixer
