Folks, just to let everyone know I’m going to start selling snake oil pretty soon, send me just £5 and I’ll tell you exactly when to turn your tap on in the house to extra your one required dose that will cure all ailments and and add an inch to any appendage you require.

For £10 you can get the “express” service.

PM me, but if I don’t answer it’s because I’m so busy with sales so just pay for the express service….

Whilst I’ll need to read a bit more into the actual course content and TO’s etc. at the minute I’m really not seeing the benefit of this at all. My organisation doesn’t recognise it and isn’t showing any sign of changing posture anytime soon.

More tosh, No one will be allowed to shoot Deer soon, unless you have a gazillion certificates, I have been out with a few " Trained hunters" as they like to call themselves, it seems to me they don't like getting their new Blaser muddy or blood on their £500 knife, I have a Gamekeeper friend who has done the Job since the age of 16, He's now 62 and always been a Gamekeeper, he is almost a cripple everything is aching or worn out, but I would love to see any one Gralloch a deer quicker than he can, he has lost count of the deer he has culled over the years, but this is the kind of experienced person you need to learn from, not some Bloke in a class room who has probably shot less deer than you have, it all seems a bit daft to me.

Wierd,
Who is this for.
If it costs 750 plus all the courses and whatever the stalking might cost makes it definitely only something for People who are doing this as a job. It's not for Bob who manages a permission and takes 4 deer a year for his freezer.

But then It's like a jack if all trades list of courses but not a specialist at any of it

if you just want to prove you are a well qualified stalker to cull deer and drop off to a larder there aren't really enough actual stalking modules to get you the points even if you do all the courses which would have lots of overlap.
LGMH & gralloch course (essentially duplicating the same info) plus
PSSDMC, Deer mgmt course, best practices (loads of overlap there) =11 points you still need a couple more bits like HAD/butchery etc which you may not have any interest in

If you are a land manager writing plans for deer management and need to show you are capable of writing and implementing a DMC for an employer (something like a chartered deer manager) why do you need to actually cull all those animals . The management plans somewhere I shoot are written by someone who has never shot a deer but he knows how to manage ground across a range of metrics and species and does have DSC1 but isn't going to shoot a dozen deer himself

Can't work it out at all

In all seriousness though I’ve always found it really odd folk decry people like Peter and co who make up courses while full supporting dsc which is also a made up course 🤷🏼

Why does Peter Jones have such a bad rap on here?

I have done DSC1 and wouldn't pay for this course; I would rather be out stalking, frankly. But I would prefer to have people promoting activity and expanding our sport.

Years ago when I was taking a course in economics, we had to write an essay entitled, "Fair exchange is no robbery". It may not be for us, it may be for someone else. You pays your money and you takes your choice.

Correct DSc 1 and 2 are made up courses which for some bizzare reason people have swallowed whole , if someone wants to bring out DSc 3 fair play to them you pays your money you take your choice

DSC1 is a made up course yes. Made up of information people should know as a base line. It didn’t come of the shelf.
DSC2 is not a course but a competence test of ability based on what you have learnt and practiced.
PDS I believe is similar.
This DSC 3 is a little different in its design and I am not sure of its value. You can do all the courses independently, keep cull records and write a management plan without having to pay for an assessment. You still have all the certificates, plan and cull records if someone wants to see them.

I’m afraid it really did come off the shelf

The only assessment in this course appears be be in drafting a cull plan. That is already assessed in the Advanced Deer Management course.

Here, the culls are not independently verified - just recorded. Anyone could shoot the deer so long as you have your photo take next to it. They could have all been standing on the skyline with a block of flats behind them for that matter and then the carcasses minced whole and sold to the local kebab shop, out the back door. It has no evidential value.

All the part 1 elements stand on their own.

So, what is your £750 for? Kudos. That’s all. It’s just a wrapper for other things that are either good or bad in their own right. It teaches nothing and assesses nothing that a candidate wouldn’t already have been assessed in.

Fair exchange is no robbery - but the emphasis has to be on the first word in that phrase. And this isn’t.
