I'm expecting my DSC2 phone call soon, to discuss my portfolio. Just wondering what to expect, types of questions and average duration of the call ?

Any help/advice appreciated

I had two phone calls and both lasted over an hour.
I had lots of questions on shot placement, animal reactions etc. deer seasons as in what if you had shot the wrong animals, both sexes were in season etc. ( strange question).
Notifiable disease, anthrax etc.
Explain where lymph nodes are .
Asked me questions on using quad bikes too. HACCP in larder etc.
I answered all the questions ok and it was more like a chat with someone with a similar interest.

As above. All fairly relaxed questioning, no need to stress.

What Performance Criteria did you not cover in your ICR’s? Expect to be quizzed on those - so areas like wounded deer, notifiable diseases, lardering, etc.

Also expect questions about areas you are really expected to know, such as being able to talk through the location of the lymph nodes from head to tail, what to look for at the shot site, etc.

Remember, the Assessor is not trying to trick you or trip you up, just make sure you are competent and know your stuff.

Just done mine last week I was nervous 😬 but the guy was brilliant my call was about 45 minutes, follow up procedures if you wound a beast , safety precautions if going on a Scottish hillside , disease’s, larders , who to contact and what to do if you suspect a disease etc , Best advice I would say is read your dsc 1 manual again and do the question banks , the contacts are also in the back for your area apha , The experience was ok but do ya home work lymph nodes , shot placement, good luck mate
