Thank you and that may well be the manufacturer but I reckon that I dealt with a Pom middleman.
The website has plenty of offerings and at half the price (circa) I have the EAWs on a rifle and they are very well made and finished the others (rusan) lack some of that finish but are nonetheless very good.
I found a ref telling a mate that i got them for $200 AUD not quid. CHEAP!
Yup, but the thing is that eaw themselves do not seem to offer the eaw base to pic rail comversion, so at the moment it seems that one has no choice but to look to 3rd party manufacturers. 👍
Wether innogun is truly much better than Rusan, and so much better as to warrant costing 2/3rds more i dont know tbh, but i am hoping that one or more of the good posters on here can help to spread some light on it. :)
Reliability and function is of course the alfa omega, and that has to be in order when we are shooting at live game, but besides that it perhaps mainly becomes a question of aesthetics between the two??

Shaun (Ellis)- probably optics warehouse or one of their many sub business / websites

Stop moaning about price.
Suhler Einhakmontage (claw mounts) now they would blow your mind as it is finest buchsenmachers work and costs between 1,000 and 1,500€.

The Rusan Pivot mounts are good kit and do various top mount parts including a Picatinny rail.

That is good to know @Dragonfly Ordnance , thanks. Yep, in my case i'd be using his, or innoguns, pic rail on top of an already existing eaw mauser 98 rail :)
Innogun do write that some minor adaptations might have to be made to either the foot of the rail or to the fix point of the foot in the bases, and it is probably the same with rusan i imagine, but i'll give both a call and hear.👍 .-)

I wouldnt call it moaning, but simply figuring out if there is any qualitative or other reason to pay 66 % more for one 3rd party maker than the other. 👍

I personally think EAW is a rip off, over engineered and ends up mounting too high. The only reason they’re still in business is because so many German smiths are used to rousing them. Seen many of them suddenly give in the spring settings too, so would I trust them for return to zero, not particularly.

They’re quality steel, but so are many others.

Interesting input :) I've so far only had them on my m98, which being a 6.5x57 isnt particularly hard recoiling, and there they work fine. They do mount high, especially with a zeiss rail on top of the bases.
What sort of quick detachable system would you recommend ? .)

It was written in a jesting manner, maybe it did not come across as such. I will try my Rowan Atkinson approach next time.

On some yes, I bought the rifles secondhand though.
yep, when buying older (and especially german or austrian) rifles, they often come with different sort of swing mounts. It is pretty cool, but can also be a damn mess to sort out with rings etc later. Well especially for the MS'

Plz do 😁;)

One of the considerations with any QD Austrian manufacturered set of scope mounts & rings is to FULLY understand how they are intended to function. Get installation right and with an understanding in how you've achieved such will ensure zero disappointment throughout their life. A life that is all but certain to outlive yours!

Swing mounts are a complicated piece of engeneering, many things can go wrong so in order to avoid problems get the best ones you can. Why are EAW the most expensive, because they are the best there is. Don't save your money on swing scope mounts, it just isn't a good idea. Even the best ones can be tricky if not used properly. I generaly don't fully trust swing mounts. I had two sets of EAW mounts and they were fine. I curently have a set of Recknagel swing mounts on my Heym SR 20 and I'm not impressed by them. I also have a set of Suhl claw mounts on my M98 back from the days they costed about 500 €. On my R8 I have a set of Blaser mounts and Innomount mounts and I fully trust the Blaser ones and Innomount not so much. I like Suhl claw mounts the most as I'm left handed and Suhl are the only truly ambidextrous mounts. They are also 100% reliable and have a nice traditional feel to them.

Thanks for the input, @WildBoarHunter , Its interesting to hear of your impressions of the different manufacturers. 🙂👍
A bit worrying to hear of your experiences with innomount though, as so far I've Only found eaw to pic rail solutions by them and Rusan.

I have seen too many shifts of POI in my life. The only detachable scope mounts I fully trust are Blaser factory mounts, EAW swing mounts and Suhl claw mounts made by a fully qualified gunsmith with formal Ferlach gunsmithing education.

I ve just switched from apel 30 mm to picatiny and tier ones so have rings spare provided they fit your bases. Can photo later as off to work now.
