Electronic fox callers

Was out myself last night...tried varying vixen calls, mating, heat, and territory but to no avail. Switched over to rat distress call and a dog fox came flying out the hedgeline and recieved a 50gr pill for his troubles.

About 20 minutes later played the rat distress again and a huge dog came out to investigate and also hot the good news.

Just shows some calls work sometimes and another time they don't...funny creatures 😄

Out this morning by 5am, tried various calls then a whopping great dog fox came charging in the vixen in heat.

Happy days but rookie error, needed a dump so climbed down off my heap of bales to find another (presumably vixen) lurking around which made a swift exit.

I find most foxes we shoot in argyle are not bothered with the fox caller (exception of the young ones). Its certainly very rare you get one running in to you like you see on youtube  multiple bait points and covering as much ground as possible works best for us, you get to know the hotspots after a while and where you are most likely to find one lurking

it is on the UK calls, you can send an SD card to Best Fox Call and htey kindly fill it up with calls that work specifically in the UK
Hmmm. I just addressed an envelope, enclosed an SAE plus a nice letter and was putting my newly purchased SD card in when I noticed it was a 32gb card!
Bugger, bugger, bugger - their site says 4-16gb so all on hold until I get the right card.

If you have no other use for the 32gb card send it anyway FB. They only state the capacity as they do so you don't spend extra on a 'bigger' card and then not need the space. If the info will fit on a 16 it'll fit with capacity to spare on your 32.
If you've already spent the money, use the card ;)

Ahah! Good man LS - thank you very much. 32gb it is - watch this space……

dawnbreaker hows it going with the caller?
i was chatting to a mate of mine the other day about calls/callers
he said that his first caller was a gen 1 icotec gs500 but he feels that his gen 2 gives a clearer sound
might be worth a look but saying that my first caller was a china copy and i had a lot of foxes with that
i was out again last night and had another 2 one came into BLAZE call the other to CALL 37E 😮

A lot might be down to population density too. I see you are in Essex where you are tripping over foxes , it's a lot different up north where the population is quite low in comparison.

i shoot a small farm (180 acres) which is part of a three farm game shoot
its quite near a large housing estate plus park lands and a tip
ive only ever been out once and not seen a fox
the two last night were number 85 and 86 shot since the 1st January this year
a mate of mine looks after the other two farms and has shot 112 foxes this year
(i saw him a fortnight ago when he told me this so could be a few more by now)
so yes foxhunter you could say we have a large population of foxes

Ah I remember...you get all the drop offs.
I shoot farms of 180 acres and you would be lucky to shoot 3 or 4 a year on it.

wabbit warren ..I’m also in the same area wise as yours as far as controlling Charlie.similar settings and I’m on fox no 107 so far from Jan !
Last year I got to 120 by Xmas and by all accounts looks like I’m going to be in target..on the other hand I’ve never used a caller..just know their habits and most likely entry and exit points from the local sprawling urban housing estate!
Most are shot between 45- 150 yards and this year I’ve got the bonus use of my trusty infrared remote controlled 360 deg 4x4 roof mounted thermal tilt and turn rig giving me a complete view of all Charlie’s moving around up to 800 yds..as I sit in a toasty warm leather seats inside my LC invincible protected with all windows shut..lol

Yeah I reckon my problem is fox density one of my main perms I go to 140 ac I've shot 6 this Yr, and there's a few lads driving about in open top landys with lamps that only last week accounted for 7 very near a 200 ac perm I've just got 😫😫
