Is this event a just turn up and shoot different ranges or is it a competition
Hi, it's not a competition, it's designed for practice at different ranges.

If you want to have a chat DM me your phone number and a convenient time and I'll give you a call.

Thanks
Nick

This is an excellent day out for not very much money. Bring as many rifles as you like and shoot them out to silly distances safely. If you have ever wondered how far your equipment will take you, this is the day for you to find out with no pressure at all!

Can non BDS or BACs attend pls ? Obviously I have insurance through Sacs. Last year I booked but was unable to attend but I’d love to this year please

Booked how many rounds should I make up do you think? I was thinking 100 or so?

Literally shoot as much as you want

The range day is usually split into two sessions (morning and afternoon )

There is sufficient space for all shooters to line out (providing there is enough RCO to monitor safely)

The last one I attended was spent sorting some rifle issues for attendees, so I didn’t actually get to shoot a whole lot 😂

Targets are every 100 mtrs out to 1100 and then a couple further out at 1500 and a mile

Weather will be a factor to target engagement - if there’s limited visibility it will cease until it clears

I bought a box of the norma 308 training ammo and didn't have much left! While it's fun to try at the longer range, a lot of fun can skills training can be had trying to hit the smaller gongs at 2, 3, 400 and back again.
IF you've been on the Bradley Bourner marksmaship days, it's a great opportunity to put it in to practice

Rather frustratingly, I shall still be on the Isle of Harris on the 14th October.

Bloody shame, this looks like a splendid day out.

Is this a regular thing or have I ...

...missed the boat?
It’s normally an annual range day with the BDS. There are also a range of competitions held at Eskdalemuir such as the MOA challenge, the Send It Shoot (SIS) which is a PRS style event and the Elite which is a more physically challenging PRS style event. Ronin has reported on the Elite event in a different thread. All of the events are open to everyone with a FAC and suitable rifle, well organised, friendly and great fun.

As noted above, there is a programme of events at Eskdalemuir. The limiting factor is the weather, so there's nothing on in the winter. I and a number of other folk have asked for the 2024 programme to be released as soon as possible, so that folk can work out what they can attend in 2024.
It's an excellent venue and at recent events I've met folk who have travelled up from the south coast of England as well as folk who have come down from the north of Scotland.
Regards
JCS
