Exporting/shipping trophies to USA

Can any professional UK stalker with knowledge/experience of guiding US hunters and exporting their trophies recommend a shipping agent who can deal with this and all the attendant paperwork etc?

Been doing this for 40 years or so.
Not getting any easier, especially under the present conditions. The air freight price has gone through the roof of late. I have a box of trophies ready to ship to Chicago and then onwards to Michigan. Just the one way freight to Chicago is double what it used to be!!

First of all everything that is shipped via air has to be in a wooden box with air craft grade timber (present box I have is £150 made). The handling agent this end needs to make sure all the paperwork is correct. Scientific names and common names of the trophies, where shot, and a letter from the Outfitter or guide stating that they were all taken in accordance with British game laws. The shipment MUST go through a designated port of entry in the States, with a Fish and Wildlife facility to be checked. This is where you will need a good company handling this in the States.

There are not a great many companies handling such goods in this country, and who actually know what they are doing. Many will not deal with one of individual boxes. I use a company in Kent, who in general have been pretty good. You can PM me and I will give you their details.

You may also want to consider making sure that if two clients have their trophies in one box that it only goes under ONE name and forwarding address. The Fish and Wildlife in the States are getting twitchy about multiple trophies in one box.

Would you be willing to recommend the companies to me? Including who makes your box? My issue is going to be this is my whole collection. Africa, the UK, Europe. Ugh. Might just sell it and have posters made of the pics for my den.

If you are going back home to the USA - take your hunting history with you.
Pain to sort out, but then they are where they should be,

I want to for sure ... especially my bigger stags and some of the key Africa stuff. Just need some people who can do facilitate this for me. Packers, shippers etc.

Have Pm'ed you the details. The company also will have the box made to your specs. They will handle everything, just make sure you have all the scientific names on the paper, and also if there are any CITIES 1 trophies you will need the certificates too. DONT send any originals, copies only.

Hi Sikamalc,

I find myself in a similar situation to Idahoboy, however it is Canada I will be moving to not the US. I also have a fair few trophies from South Africa, NZ and the UK. I had assumed that a normal international removals/shipping company would have dealt with all my household belongings (including my hunting trophies) in one combined shipment but after reading this post I was mistaken. I would appreciate if you would also PM me the details of the shipping company you mention above and I will get in touch with them.

Thank you.

Really appreciate everyone's help here, including those that PM'd me some info. Very grateful indeed.

I dealt with Rainbow Freight when I shipped a Roe Buck, they took care of everything, but it was 5 years ago so I'm sure things have changed since then.
Cheers
Richard
