Factory ammo for 1/8 twist Tikka .243

Take your pick!

I ran a 1:8 twist 243 for many years & it was a tack driver with anything up to 105/107gn.

I’m guessing that the new Tikka has a faster twist to better handle the ‘long for weight’ non lead bullets which makes a lot of sense.

So, same advice as always, look at what ammo you can get a regular supply of locally, buy a box of each & then decide on which works best.

One word of advice, a lightly constructed bullet travelling at high(er) speeds & spinning faster due to the fast twist will increase carcass damage - that is why I no longer use a 243 & restrict my 6mmBR to the longer range ‘sniping’ scenarios!

Sako 90 grain soft points haven’t found any tikka or sako that won’t shoot them good all round fox and deer bullet
Thanks Scott, I’ll give them a go, if I can find any. Choice and availability of ammo in wales is not great at the moment!
