Factory ammo prices

I’ve said it before and see no reason to change my view. Expect to see an ever-decreasing number of RFD’s as the cost of both sporting and target rifle shooting hits a level at which the average working man’s wage can no longer support their interest. Add to this the painfully slow and oft’ restrictive variation process that is ensuring RFD stock is simply not moving, and the scene is set.

this seems to be across the board with shooting supplies, i only really reload, however primers are typically around a £100 a 1000, when a couple of years ago they were £45, then up to £60 last year! Powder was around the £85 to £90 a kg, just bought a kg for £118, its going mad. Typically a reloaded 308 was around 50p,(reloaded) its closer to a £1, and I tend to target shoot, so 80 rounds plus range fees and your in for over a ton, its going to become a rich mans sport before long.
Don't forget road fuel, £45 for my last trip to Bisley.

On the other hand, if a 'lead ban' does happen, it will be the time to stock up on 'fire sale' bullets and primers :thumb:

This morning I bought 2 boxes of Hornady 223 Superformance for £22 per box and 2 boxes of Hornady 17HMR V-Max at £18 per box. The big shock was 500 AirArms .22 Diablo Field air gun pellets... £22 per tin!!!
Which RFD if you don’t mind me asking, just paid £29 for a box of Superpeformace!

Shop around. A few years ago I bought a box of Winchester 308 150gr for £26 at a local'ish shooting ground. A few weeks later I was at Gilsan's at Melsonby and they wanted £35 for the same box of 20!!! That was before any of the shortages etc.

I wiped off my head the pain of sourcing reloading components and luckily my rifles shoot spot on wit nearly any factory ammunition so I have good stock pile for next few years. Especially my 223 shoot bug holes with 55gr frontiers £9 per box of 20

I struggle to see how a clay pigeon cost's more than a cartridge now.

500 22lr were £45.50 last week.

The prices being realised at Southams auction for cartridges is close to retail on some lots.

The armoury at bisley yesterday had SR primers (HK brand) for £5/100 which I thought was good, but not heard much about...also hthey have 55gr magtech 223 for £25/50rounds which seems to do fine at 100 yards in my howa.

This week I forked out £108/1000 federal primers (before I heard about bisley) and £102 for some vit powder for my 223.

Earlier last week my local rfd sold me 50gr remmington accutips and 40gr nobler ballistic tips for my 223 at 29.99/20.

I read so much about reloading not really about cost saving but at current prices (even inflated primers) it still seems worth it, especially for target and plinking...

The big shock is finding them... some RFD's won't post these, yet you can have bullets purchased and delivered online... I thought I'd get back into my ratting given the CF reloading stock and supply shortages, so out of the pan into the fire🙄.

75 rats on my first nights recent visit😉.

Fill my Range Rover up with Diesel and you have a deal😎
Filled ours up the other day at Morrisons as my wife had let it get empty enough for the fuel light to come on and it was just over £162 for the tank full, painfull part is we have used it a lot since last Friday and its down to a quarter of a tank left now so will need filling up again over the weekend
