Fancy fuels.

I fill up when the odometer reads 100 miles, usually £23ish on Shell diesel. Topped up with V Power yesterday at 97 miles. £18...

No - although all the dafties with tuned up engines in their cars will tell you it's better - which is just a classic case of confirmation bias

Cheers

It does make a difference it's higher octane turbo cars can hole pistons because there mapped for higher octane a lot of high performance cars will state on there fuel caps the Ron rating

Scooby Spec B Estate (sadly long gone ) hated anything other than V Power fuel (18-20 mpg) but was “interesting to drive “

Jag XFS diesel chipped to 600 nm (long gone now ) on V Power returned constant 38-45 mpg no matter how driven (would spin wheels in third in wet )

That had issues with dpf if I put cheaper fuel in it and needed the odd quick run to resolve

Mitsy L200 performs much better on v power (more mpg more torque towing) Than on supermarket fuel

Current ride - D 5 Estate also same (though may change to BITDI Allroad) .......

Constant “brisk” trip to Longtown Range a few weeks ago returned low 40 mpg despite “ briskness “ 😂

Pattern - buy better fuel, it’s not in my view a fools errand

That's impressive - pretty much a gallon difference (using £1.3/l for normal diesel £23 = 17.7litres, and £1.4/l for V Power £18 = 12.8litres ).
