FB Market Place Scams

I have contacted two different people on FB Market Place via messenger about Leica binoculars that were advertised for sale as second hand. They were Trinovid and Duovid bins which were advertised at a fraction of their value. I contacted the sellers and they were very quick to reply saying that they were available and had accepted my offer. Because I was suspicious about the advert I asked for proof of ID along with their bank or PayPal details. Anyway the same day as I had made my offer their profile had disappeared off FB.
Be aware of any adverts where high end optics are being advertised well below market value. Someone has obviously found that people are quick to pay for a high end optics bargain.

FB Marketplace is little more than a den of thieves.

Although it's maybe fine if you find something local and you can go along and see what you are buying and pay directly, anything else is usually some sort of scam. Even local sources may well be ill gotten goods. So all round, buyer beware. Or better still, buyer don't buy.

Tried to buy a trailer on fb marketplace. Will pick it up next week and was told he would only hold with a deposit. Sent £100
And the bastard disappeared. Never another word although he did talk some rubbish about being in hospital… fine I said send my deposit back!! Total scammer
