FC and level 2

new deer stalking leases by fc looks like no level 2 no stalking, what other people are going to ask for this qualification is there going to be rush for the level 2 and the fit and componant register so people can get leases

no used to be level one accompanyed by level 2 then you had to get level two with in one year

I can see why level 2 is becoming the standard, if it doesn't you could potentially end up with all the people on an agreement having level 1 but potentially have never shot a deer. I know everyone has to start somewhere and level 1 is better than nothing but by asking for level 2 they know the tenants have at least some level of stalking experience.

Got to agree with BenC on this one the FC do not have sporting leases any more they are control leases and that would suggest you need to be Fit n Competent to take on the Job in hand.

I always thought it was the lease holder which had to be Level 2? I'm no expert in this area though and I'm sure others are. Also, is there a difference between regions, ie England/Wales/Scotland or do they all come under the same 'FC' blanket?

Level 2 for FC ground, and it it looks as if, as of 2014 in Scotland minimum of level 1 to stalk anywhere , or be accompanied by someone who does have it.

I also looked into this the other day on the FC website and the exact wording was that the license holder held DSC L2 with other members also holding L2 then in brackets or to be obtained within 12 months.

+1, I also beleive they do not require Fit & Competent unless an out of season ticket is applied for, which will only

be given out if your Management Plan requires it, due to tree damage on restock sites. (It won't be granted for

tall timber) . Hence no need for F&C status to join FC permission.

I shoot FC at the moment . . . . If you have L1 you must be working towards L2, and must gain L2 within 12 months. Whilst on the ground you must be accompanied by someone with L2. If after 12 months you have not got L2 . . . no more shooting on FC ground.

For what its worth the private companies are heading in this direction as well . . . . info from the horses mouth.

The FC will set the standard and others will follow it.

Cadex is bang on about the private companies we as a group have been involved in a tender process for deer management and the stipulation from the private companies tendering for the planting was any one on the ground managing the deer had to be Lev 2 or equivalent. Fit and Competent is what there calling it (but you do not need to be on the official snh register).
