I feed out a lot of molasses, particularly when it gets dry as its such a great way to deliver urea, lime, salt & other minerals to stock. I'll occasionally even medicate or drench using the trough (I grow several species of deer & antelope). I Just use one of the troughs I have for liquid feed supplement with the roller balls removed for the pigs, these will hold about 200l of molasses based liquids. Molasses for some reason seems to ferment out faster than white sugar, but its a pain to mix up in small batches of only 60l at a time & sugar is only about 90c a kilo, so for $10 & 15 minutes of work I can produce a lot of alcohol in a few days. At the rate of one kilo of sugar or molasses into 4l of water with a bit of bakers yeast & left a few days. This can be used over food baits like grain to enhance its attractiveness or just feed out ad lib in troughs like I usually do. Once the pigs have had their fill they don't go far & I can usually find them sleeping it off within meters of the nearest water supply from about 10 am the next day. Its not hunting, & even the meanest old boar could be rounded up without much fuss once they have a bit of grog in them. I really don't like pigs, I don't even get any pleasure at from shooting them, but seeing them drunk can be good for a laugh occasionally, it can also be unsettling as the behaviours displayed has some parallels with the behaviour of some of our own species when under the influence. Its interesting that most of the baits suggested in this thread are of fermentable goods & again suggests the attraction of alcohol to pigs & the risks they will take to get it.
