First Aid Kit for Stalkers?

Had a great night out stalking last night-- two good stalk-ups, two ~70m head-shots in a munty buck and then a pricket (pictured). Felt very accomplished. Then, gralloching the fallow, I did a dummy and (not even while doing anything tricky) I ran my trusty Russell Belt Knife across the back of my thumb. Luckily nothing serious, just a flesh would. Within a about 2 min I had it staunched, steri-stripped, and bandaged (pictured). There was some claret spread about, still!

Should I wear a steel or kevlar glove? YES. That's not the topic here.

The question is: what first-aid kit do you keep on yourself when out?

Here is what I usually have on or near me, also pictured:

(1) In the truck, a trauma kit. Combat-Applied-Tourniquet (CAT), First Field Dressing (FFD), Ackerman Chest Seal, Cellox Packet, gloves, and a CPR breather-mask. This sits where I can reach it from the driver's seat. [Twice in my life now I've deployed this stuff at car wrecks, not to speak of Afghanistan]
(2) When at the range/shooting comps, I have an "ouch pouch" on my gun belt. Very similar. CAT, FFD, Cellox, Gloves.
(3) In my bino/chest-rig when out stalking: steri strips, cleaning wipes, gauze and adhesive dressing. This is what I deployed to seal up my hand last night, before getting back to Truckasaurus. I might add a roll of medical tape. My logic is to be prepared for the most likely mechanism of injury, which are:
  1. Knife cut (even with kevlar/steel gloves)
  2. Cut on wire or antlers

Does anyone else carry first-aid stuff on them? If so, what? If not, what's your reasoning?

Over the years dead bracken while dragging and carcass broken rib fragments while gralloching appear to be the leading cause of injuries for myself. A bit of blue roll will suffice untill back to the rucksack

I've got a cheap first aid kit in my roe sack that I bought to do DSC 2 with around 10 years ago, I can't remember what is in it.

We would definitely recommend our Compact Medical Kit for stalkers, supplemented with a tourniquet and some celox gauze that we also sell.
It's nice and compact, with a very high quality bag. It contains everything you need to get back to civilization in almost every scenario without being too bulky.
We can offer a discount for forum members, and also include some Vetrap for those on here due to demand!

If you have bought the pack from us, and you don't use the items and they go out of date, we will replace them for cost price!

How does one go about getting the discount ?

Cheers

I carry a decent Trauma kit ( TCCC compliant ) and a " Boo, Boo " Kit which covers all the non-trauma injuries. A decent 40-90 piece first aid kit is fine, add some wound wash and disinfectant wipes. A useful extra is some 3M Coban Latex free self-adherent wrap, that sticks to itself, does not move, and applies pressure.

Nice tip with the Coban. Cheers

Sorry to hijack but what are people’s views on the clotting agent as I must get something along those lines and I’m a haemophiliac and would like to be prepared

Cheers scott

Field dressing is the only thing I carry, if you or whoever your with it can be the difference of life or death.

Was going to do the same but awaiting a response to the discount for members asked by @sauer
Sorry account mixup!

Thank you all for the interest. The best way to get hold of me for some discount is to either PM me on here or by email at nathan@rockypeakoutdoors.co.uk. I can also message anyone who asks, but don't want to pester anyone by sending unwanted messages.

Let me know what you'd like and I'll work out what I can do for a discount!

If you'd like to PM me for your specific requirements, feel free. We can discuss what you might need in addition, or not in lots of cases!
