Gave up the flying thing for hunting trips to Hungary and Bavaria.
Far simpler to drive, takes longer but is hassle free.
Calais to Munich area ...10 hrs
Munich to Northern Hungary ..6 hrs
Calais to Northern Hungary... 17 hours
This is in Hilux at 80mph ish , would be lot quicker in car. (Two people driving three hour shifts.)
Have found Channel tunnel far better than ferries.
Can also take more gear, locked in vehicle safe.
Was slightly quicker with European Firearms pass. No borders in Europe apart from exiting Hungary to Austria. Never been stopped with UK plate.
Have permission on large area of land in remote Hungary near Slovakian border.
(Have option to buy about £5K per hectare includes small bungalow near village with one shop, about 80K or 40M HUF)
Been doing this for 15 years +
Usually go for three weeks at a time at all different times of year. Sometimes twice depending on work.
Not shot in Slovakia or Romania yet although have been invited.
Hunting community in Europe is very very friendly and generally helpful unlike some of the "grabbing hands" mindset in the UK.
