Anyone got one yet?. Whats it like?. Detection range for fox etc?.
Thinking of 'dipping a toe' - not interested in 'ethics', just performance.

I borrowed a FLIR one to try - I've no idea of model or anything but know it cost over £7k. For the use we were putting it to on the night (we decided to count sika in a commercial forestry with significant open areas, moorland, tracks and clearfell) we were all agreed that the lamp was a much better way to spot and count deer after dark in our particular circumstances. I understand that using a lamp will not suit every situation and so the testing we did was of limited value but there is no way I'd want to spend more than £50 on IR as it stands at the minute.

However, there seem to be lots of people getting into this market and my money says that the prices will crash at some point in the future and the units will improve and actually offer something significant for the money. Unless I had a really good and urgent need for one right now I'd be waiting until then.
