Wanted: Fly Fishing opportunities

I wonder if anyone can advise of reasonably priced fly fishing opportunities in or near Gloucestershire? There's one or two fisheries reasonably close but beyond those, I'd like to explore other opportunities if anyone has any recommendations?

What type of venues are you targeting, Day ticket Stillwaters, Rivers or Clubs and Syndicate vacancies?
I'm open to all suggestions. Stillwater day tickets, river day tickets being the most convenient. North Gloucestershire seems to have some decent rivers tied up with syndicates, dead mans boots to join and very expensive. I'm not a big fan of syndicates, be that shooting or fishing. My experience of them is they have tended to be cliquey, expensive, protective. I'v been a fisherman for over 50 years and in that time have shunned clubs and syndicates, preferring to take up day ticket opportunities, but as I'm a recent newcomer to fly fishing, I was hoping that with an abundance of small rivers and still waters there had to be some good day ticket opportunities. Looking to get out at least once a month. A friend had said he used to fish Bigwell in Monmouthshire but had thought it was shut now. I may give them a call and see wat the score is. There's a few in Wales, but some are several hours drive away.

I have a few rods as I've dabbled in fly fishing annually when visiting Exmoor and Cumbria over the years. I have a general all round 9ft 6# (x 2), and a 10ft 4# and have been tying the odd fly since childhood and using them to good effect, basically Euro-nymphing 25 years before the term was even coined! I'm relatively new to still water fishing but after I had to ditch my deer stalking and full bore shooting due to severe spinal issues, I want to fill that void now with more fly fishing. Have a decent vice (stonfo) and been avidly rediscovering fly tying in recent months so have more than enough for a few seasons fishing now.

With the exception of the Severn and Lydney areas, there's not too much on there for this side of the border...perhaps I need to up sticks and move to Wales!

Hello, How far are you willing to travel, ?? Farmoor can fish well if you do not mind the Concrete Bowl effect, How about the Salisbury area, While there are private parts with the SADC you can buy a Course Fishing Permit and Fly Fish, I know most of the fishing around there as in the SADC for 10 years

Hello, If you ever get to Usk fishing go in to Sweets Tackle shop, If Jean is still there your get a warm welcome and Day Tickets, And the shop will take you back in time ?? I have a Shooting/Fly Fishing man coming to Farmoor in the Spring from South Wales to learn a cast or 2 and catch a troot, Another chap came last last year for the same and took home a 4.5llb Rainbow

I was hoping within a 50 mile radius. I've found a few still water fisheries and will be giving those ago but still exploring river bank opportunities
