Ford Fiesta keyless entry?

My father has told me the keyless entry is not working on his fiesta, now I thought this may have been the normal problem of when the battery gets a bit low the can turns off the non essential systems, (like the keyless entry on the passengers side) but when I had a look at it this time, the keyless entry is not working at all.

I have put the car on charge and that has not fixed the issue like it normally does, before anyone askes, yes it locks and opens fine with the key fob, so I don't think it is fob batteries, and it is just the same with both key fobs.

Does anyone have any suggestions before I end up taking it to ford and asking them?

The keyless entry hasnt been turned off or defaulted to off in the vehicle options menu (where you can set profiles for the keys)?

Not sure if this is any use, but I know that with my D4 & FL2 the vehicle battery voltage is critical & the ECUs will not allow the car to start if there is insufficient voltage to run all the systems. I gather that it's to ensure that nothing gets damaged if the car is started with insufficient voltage to run everything. So whilst you might be able to get into the car & perhaps even turn the ignition in, the starter won't engage & the engine won't turn. What voltage are you getting on the battery? As Morkai has indicated, Google could be your friend. Good luck!

Gosh! Bring back key entry - a funny shaped metal thing with one or sometimes two raggedy edges which fitted into this slot on the driver’s door and when turned opened all the doors!
Simples.

Ford's are susceptible to weird stuff happening electrically when the battery is on the way out.
Have it properly tested and replace if needed.

I always thought that a keyless entry for a fiesta was either a coat hanger down the side of the driver’s window or half a house brick!

I had a Fiesta back in the mid 80’s, that had keyless entry too.
You could open it with just about anything that fitted the slot.
Indeed so. At a clay pigeon shoot one Saturday in the late 60s a pal who was a Ford mechanic claimed that he could unlock every car in the car park with his front door key.
And he did - without any problem whasoever!

The fault codes on my transit van were an interesting read when one of the batteries was dying. System’s across the board “failing”, nope just voltage below 10v. Which in turn seems to mess with all the voltage read sensors.
It does seem to need ODB2 reader to reset them though as just replacing the battery didn’t make them go away.
My daughter’s fiesta, she complained of lack of power. Again random faults (not battery related this time) saved them just in case and cleared them. Car runs as it should again.
I sometimes wonder why they need to be so complicated that it becomes detrimental to their correct functioning.

I had a 1980 Fiesta 950 for my first car, you could just about open that with a lollipop stick.
It turned out that prior to moving to Chubb locks, Ford only had 12 different key patterns across their entire range, so collect the set and take your pick of cars.
That Fiesta was stolen twice, the second time it was left burnt out. 🤬
