Fore sight for threaded barrel

I have seen on FB a fore sight for a Blaser that screws onto a threaded barrel, thus allowing either a moderator or open sights.
I have a semi-weight, fluted 30-06 barrel and was/am considering having both front and back sights put on it.
I have spare Blaser front and rear sights so am wondering if anybody can recommend a smith capable of doing the work required and at what price.
Time is not an issue at the moment and not likely to be for quite while due to my health.
It is just a whim at the moment so price would also be quite important.
Can anybody recommend anybody, preferably someone that has done one before ?

Artisan Forge. I will PM you the details.

A while ago Zaitsev had a 9.3x62 done by them with a foresight muzzle protector. Worth taking a look.

Eddy,

Just had a thought. Why not go for an "end of Barrel" moderator? If the fluting doesn't go all the way to the end of the barrel, can you get a 3/8" foresight dovetail cut between the threads and the start of the fluting?

Might save you the "timing" issue?

Why not, as others say, set it back from the muzzle. Like on a classic H & H stalking rifle. Have the barrel in front of it threaded and also have a "cap" or thread protector made to cove r that when using it without the moderator. Even a piece of black plastic pipe makes a suitable thread protector collar in fact.

My moderators are over the barrel mods and work very well so I don't want to change the moderator.
I have seen some good thread protectors with the fore sight mounted on it so that is what I am thinking of, again subject to cost.
Up to now, when in a country where Mods are not allowed, I have used my Swaro6 1.2 - 6 x 24 with a muzzle brake.
I just fancied using it as a standard rifle if such work is within my budget.

That's actually a pretty good idea . Maybe you could get a slip on front sight mounted on a sleeve . Use a set screw through the sleeve that sits in a small detent drilled top dead center on the barrel . Use a screw on thread protector to hold it against recoil and you should be good . At least that way you wouldn't need to worry so much about indexing the front sight . Just a thought .

The guy who posted it on Facebook is Michael Rainback , he used to work for Rigby and he’s the man to do it for you...

I've contacted him and he has asked for pictures of the barrel and the sights to be mounted but I am not Techy enough to do that so have to wait for my son or daughter to visit to do that for me. I was hoping there would be someone close enough for me to visit and talk through it.

I think Jekele do what you need

Top one is a semi weight, fluted, threaded and has iron sights, ordered as a special from blaser was supposed to take 12-16 weeks but took about 24 in the end. The problem you might have is the flutes not lightning up or getting in the way of the sights

my cz550 has been done in this way, unless you knew you couldn't tell it was threaded, once the foresight is fitted. a very neat job.
