Forestry First Aid ADVICE

Hi All.

Im more than confident that alot of people on this site have taken and qualified for forestry first aid.

My question is did you go and partake in a course or did you do it online?

I am on the hunt for a syndicate and seen most require Forestry First Aid.

Do syndicates (if going down to proper route of certificates) accept online forestry first aid courses?

Thanks

Just a standard Fist aid course then a separate (+F) section for the forestry. There has always been a lot of practical application of what is taught, so not so sure of the quality of an online course. But it would probably provide the bit of 'paper' required.

Yeah this is what I though. So i already have firsta id at work so it is just the forestry tick I need. I know the online course wont provide the practical, but sitting through First Aid at work every year, being a trained medic and other medical qualifications I have I dont feel like I need the practicle side.

I've done two +F courses which I attended, first one was especially good, second one more focused on what we wanted, third one I done online. I'd suggest attending at least one in person to get hands on with the kit, then treat online courses as refreshers

The above trainer was very good, but your qualifications should trump a 4 day course.

Yeah I feel like a course will just be relearning things I already know. I need to contact someone ideally who runs syndicates and see if an online cert will be okay.

The forestry bit is normally extra trauma stuff.
If you’re already an in-date medic speak to your potential syndicate organiser about your current quals and if you require any extras.

I guess it depends on what is meant by a qualified medic, it could be all the way from an event medic who is most at home at a church fete all the way through to an air ambulance Doc.

I'd speak to a potential syndicate to discuss what they think.
