FOX Bullets expansion.

FOX bullets are manufactured here in Slovenia. I have been using them since they came on the market quite a few years ago, mostly 308 win 150 gr and 6,5×55 123 gr. I can say they are a great bullet. They are a very violent bullet and I could not think of a better monolithic bullet for driven hunting. They are also very accurate and useful for any kind of hunting, even small foxes fall quickly.
FOX bullets are not the only monolithic bullet manufactured here, in fact there's quite a few of them, like LOS bullet, OK bullet and Perun Acorn bullet. The first Slovenian monolithic bullet came out allready in 1970's, almost 40 years before Barnes. It was patented by professor Avcin and was called ABC (Avcin bullet cartridge). Hirtenberger then manufactured loaded cartridges until 2003 when RUAG bought them and ceased production. Below is a picture of FOX and ABC bullets for comparison. Older hunters prefered ABC for driven hunting as it always made an exit wound and also had a very stable flight through thick brush which was considered very important when driven hunting game.

They are both same 6.5 mm 123 gr. ABC has the opening filled with lead as lead was the standard at that time. I believe lead accounts for about 9 % of the bullet. That is why it appears smaller although it weights the same.

ABC bullet also opens to four petals like Barnes while Fox mushrooms. Therefore ABC opens up slower and in a more controlable manner. It sometimes produces slow kills especially on smaller game. It works best with fast calibres and when hunting large game, similar to early XLC Barnes.
Fox on the other hand does not need high speed to kill well and also works very well on small game. In contrast to Barnes it was developed for hunting in Europe where we hunt a lot of smaller deer species like roe deer, chamois...

45gr is just compressed for 2600

You can run 47g for 2770fps at 69.5mm OAL to the tip
work up to that

Nice to see my old thread pop back to life
I carried on using Fox in my 8x57 up until selling it, and they were great!
I moved over to Yew Tree with my 6.5, as it appealed to support a local British company, and they grouped great.
Nothing but praise for Fox bullets from me.

One of the few brands tested down to lower velocities.
We tested them in ballistic clay and NATO strength (20%) gel down to 2200fps terminal velocity
In personally believe from my own experience that they have produced faster and more emphatic killing at lower velocities
I initially started using them myself in 130gr .270 form pushing 3050fps

For the past 18m I have been using them in 150gr .308 form at 2650fps from a 20” barrel.
One of the most impressive results was on a very big stag at around 220m.
Quartering towards me
Shot just in front of one leg, exit just behind the other, above the heart but through aorta and pulmonary vessels and lungs.
Not only did it stop it in it’s tracks within 15-20yds, it produced impressive “shattering” of lungs and huge blood loss through entry/exit and notably the nose and mouth where there was a 1m puddle

I like the thread regards these bullets, how can we buy them to try please?
