Fox non-toxic bullets

No worries Dexter. I have one of a head shot muntjac if you wish me to PM it to you? I have seen what red stags look like and can assure you that it looks like less damage then the roe shows. And it dropped the stag on the spot!
Thank you belly. Not too worried about the head shot picture. I can imagine that it put the deer down ok. If the red was like the roe photos then I'm more than happy. Do you happen to know what weight bullets were used on the reds and how hard they were pushed?

No need to drop a weight class with these
We do a 165gr 308 that the FC have been using

They have been tested and expand reliably down to 2000 or so fps (equivalent to a 600yd shot)

The fad of driving non lead monolithic faster and dropping a weight class to get higher MV was a response from manufacturers who were experiencing poor terminal effect and unreliable expansion.
The Classic hunter is not designed with BC and paper marketing in mind
It's a blunt instrument designed to kill game effectively inside 300m, which is where 99.9% of most game are shot
Inside which the BC is largely irrelevant.

Nice clean carcases though!

So are you saying to load them as you would conventional lead bullets and they will perform very similarly Edinburgh?

Yes these are not like copper bullets which need to be driven as fast as possible in order to get proper expansion. These are soft. They work like lead bullets. They open up fast on anything even small fox and stuff.

Thank you for the confirmation as that appeared to be what ER was saying. Clearly, as they're quite new around here there's a bit of confusion with them and how they perform. I'm quite new to re-loading so want to try to cut down my errors before I start. I will go 150 grain and see what the results look like. Hopefully better that the TSX's which have been rather damaging.
Sorry, just seen your post #14!

Yes
Pretty much, load a small you would any bullet of that weight
Our factory loads are slightly warmer than equivalent lead factory loads but only in some cartridges and only through judicious use of RS and Viht double base powders
Not through necessity

Resurrecting an interesting thread here,
Looking for advice on what weight .308 fox bullet to try. Barrel is 16” with a 1:8 twist, hope to use Viht N140 (it’s what I currently use along with Sierra gameking 165 or 180gn)
Thanks.
