Fox/pest shooting before updated FAC arrives?

The police can search you via the PNC on the spot . If your without your proper FAC carry at least a photocopy of it is wise .

I’ve been subject to the above ..awhile ago..around midnight on an un lit lane ..apparently known lovers lane lol
Didn’t have my Fac to hand ..however did offer to show them my copy on the phone.
Nice officers said..not necessary as he was already to radio..no doubt to the pnc and got the answer he wanted.
All a good and very polite response and professional service in my experience.

I was given the go ahead that my FAC variation had been accepted and now being sorted out for post via phone call with my FEO just over a month ago, the new FAC has yet to arrive still.
I had asked for three new slots, plus permission to use my currently owned target conditioned guns for pest/vermin control on my permission.
The syndicate I am a part of has been tasked with shooting foxes that recently killed several lambs on the farm, and I am planning on going shooting with one of the other members next month, so my question is am I allowed to bring my current rifles to go fox shooting without having the varied FAC in my possession?

Other people I have spoken to have said its fine and quite common when FACs take so long to arrive now, whilst some have said I should wait for the FAC to arrive. Whats the general SD consensus?

Here’s what I would do. Write an email to your FEO along the lines of

Dear FEO, thanks for your call of yesterday (Date) confirming that my variation for xxxx, xxxxx and the condition that I am able to use the rifles for foxes and vermin. You told me My new FAC is now be printed and should be with me in a weeks but that in the meantime I can use my rifles for foxes and vermin. Please confirm that this is the correct interpretation of our conversation. Your etc”

In other words confirm in writing.

I would not proceed otherwise.
