Fox pro problems

Anyone else had problems with the fox pro remote? A friend of mine has had issues with 2 units now, just wondering if there's anywhere in UK that you can get a new remote for instead of having to get a complete new caller, many thanks

I’ve always found FoxPro themselves quite helpful … they sent me some spares over when I ran over (don’t ask 😫) my FX32 x years ago but when my Firestorm’s TX9 handset failed I had to send it back to them…At the time I couldn’t talk them into just sending me the innards. Bushwear couldn’t repair or replace 😕

Worth a try…

Do they have a UK sales dpt now or is everything having to be sent away? I know the guys at Best fox call are awesome when I've had issues.

I had a display on the remote fail - got a new remote from Bushware £80. However, turns out my Inferno was of US market origin and had a different frequency to the uk remote. Ended up swapping the displays over to get it up and running again. Working ok now but I’ve always found the range very disappointing at around 70 yards.

Which caller and remote have you got?

The PP3/9v battery connector and wires in my Firestorm’s TX9 handset were pretty fragile and the original vinyl covered connector gave up the ghost so I replaced it with a pre-wired hard plastic connector from eBay and soldered that to the board. ‘‘Twas the same with the 8 AA battery pack connector & wires in the original FX32 caller.

I’ve had to open the handset on occasion after a wet night when the rain has run down the lanyard and into the handset and managed to detach the wires from the board as it unexpectedly separated …😫. Foxpro kindly confirmed what wire went where to get it back up and running 🤣

If I you have got one of those flimsy connectors, I’ve got some spares of the better hard plastic ones here. 👍

Good old FoxPro Scorpion had mine since before 09 n it’s still going strong.
I’ve had it out to over a 100y n still it worked
Some times the original stuff works better than the new. I only wish I’d have bought two

I really like the fox pro unit, had some really good results with it. But I have also suffered with problems. Buttons don’t work very well, not always picking up the signa from remote to caller and the on off switvh on the unit is very temperamental

It's a FoxPro spitfire
Just looked it up and your TX24 handset is similar to my TX9 in using a PP3 9v battery…

If your handset is dead my first thought would be to suspect the battery connections, either in the connector itself or the other end where the wires attach to the board.

Be careful when you prise the handset apart to allow the battery wires free movement otherwise you risk pulling the wires off the board. No need to ask me how I know 🤣
(pm me your address and I’ll stick a new battery connector in the post just in case. 👍)

Apart from that… try Bushwear or Foxpro themselves for repair or replacement. If you contact FoxPro you’ll need the Serial No of the caller which is in the battery compartment.

As Fez says above…. The button pads aren’t the best in the world for feel, especially in gloves! Catches me out all the bloody time! I’m thinking I might try n find a small self-adhesive silicone ‘pimple’ as per furniture drawer bump stops to stick over the mute button 🤔

I used to have a fox pro but I always found the distance the remote works was very disappointing. Chopped it in for a Icotech and have never had a problem with it.

Update on the caller, I have 3 callers here, 2x spitfire and 1 x wildfire and none of them are sending calls to the caller, all remotes are showing working on the display but for some reason nothing is coming from caller, I'm starting to wonder if the SD card may be blank but I can't read it on the laptop, any ideas folks?

Hmmm.
Not familiar with the Foxpro but if similar to the Icotech you may wish to try reconnecting the remote to the caller using the double jack lead - which you have to do with the Icotech if for example replacing the card. Just a suggestion…
