There’s now silver into the mix
Am a springer spaniel man so colour no an issue
Bizarrely, the deer don't seem to be spooked when they see my black lab. I have shot several that we have bumped into on the way back to the car and they seem transfixed by the dog and ignore me. Fatal mistake. Dunno...I prefer the appearance of the fox reds, and they'd be better camouflaged where I shoot.
Unless that colour happens to be chocolate.
Just like white German Shepherds I’ve yet to see a chocolate lab that had any degree of working drive between its ears.
Black, yellow or fox red labs off decent proven working parents tend to only be limited in their capabilities by the level of training put into them.
Pick your black, yellow or fox red lab pup on character and personality over colour.
Whilst not usually one for broad sweeping generalisations, every chocolate that I have ever met has not appeared to have much of anything between its ears. Including my grandfathers (which he always referred to as "liver" coloured; a regional thing perhaps?)
I've always had black labs but when keepering have seen many fox reds and yellows. Like Theroedeerguy says, I've yet to see a really good chocolate lab. I'm sure there may be the odd one but as far as I have seen all colors work much the same except for the chocolatesUnless that colour happens to be chocolate.

By the law of averages there has to be a decent one somewhere but the majority of them are pretty gormless and don’t tend to be kept in full time working homes.there is working choc labs a keeper near me has a cracking choc lab id put against any other working lab
