Foxing tally year 2019

Zero, but not been out will start again next week no moon and cold so thermal will work well. Expect I will have several to get as we not been out for 3 weeks. Also ground has dried up so bit more ground will be available.

First trip of the year tonight. We have a shooting restriction Xmas and Easter here so I was unable to shoot then. I Did however have a night in the fox box without rifle and observed several foxes. They dont normally survive more than a few minutes when I have my rifle (providing they present a safe shot) so it was interesting to watch for a change....

Had a vixen then a dog within 9 minutes of each other in same field on 1st Jan. I use thermal spotter and digisight on a .222.

Is there any way to turn this into an info gathering post ie ,,,,dog fox in perthshire tonight,,,, +relevent weather conditions, so we can gather real info,,,,, rather than a ****ing contest on who can shoot the most the fastest,,,, no insult meant to anyone ,,,,,,just think we can as a site gather relevent info to cover the country,,, just not sure how it could be set up
Info required imho ,,,
Location
Sex
If female is it pregnant or lactating
Weight
Weather ,temp, dry,windy etc

Willing to put in time to help sort info if a system could be put in place to display and send info to relevent conservationists

Cheers

Always good to glean info Ray, I use the zeiss hunting app & huntstand app to log sightings, weather condition, etc and it all can build a picture. Great apps and worth a look as it covers most if not all of the data gathering suggested in your post.

Cheers

2 last nigh,dog and vixeen.
Seen another taking a dump outside the farmers house in front of his truck:p but no safe shot, it then disappears.

6 on Wednesday night, very cold and 4 of them curled up on the hillside, 5 dogs and 1 vixen, using thermal spotter and thermal scope.

Just got in - frozen, been down the other side of canterbury laid up overlooking a valley alongside a small holding

( in my truck half the time thank Christ, it was freezing)

See one dog fox ( the chicken stealer) in perfect condition 170 yds with the 222 with photon on top, off of sticks

No breeze no nothing except damp creep in yer bones cold

Didn’t hear or see anything ( no calling) else apart from that one he just quietly come slipping in on the hunt, no fuss, stopped him on the mouse squeak

Sat there 5 hrs, just moving re-positioning every hour, really enjoyed the night out with a good result

The guy lost 7 chucks since New Year’s Day - straight over a 6 ft floppy top fence with a electric strand along the bottom

He going to be a happy chap in the morning when I text him the result

( makes you realise how delicious a McDonalds and a flat white can taste when your cold )

You guys really rack up the foxes. It makes me think back to the late 70s when a prime red was worth $90. With the number of fox that you guys grass, one could make a living if the price was still what it was. Ahhh, the good old days.
