Oh poop, weld test wednesday and I'm off work with this broken rib 😩.
I'm gonna be eating paracetamol like smarties 🤦.
Any suggestions for home treatments and rib cage contusions?

Naproxen worked well for my broken ribs. Just ask for Omeprazole too and have a natural yoghurt/ Actimel or other gut health yogurty thing. Codeine side effects far outweighed the benefits. I’ll never get that morning back. What Ive found to aid healing with broken ribs is avoid anything that will make you sneeze or laugh

Man up smelly, it's only one, you've got several others.(I know that pain well). 😱 Keep smiling my friend but don't laugh. Rest.is the answer.

Sympathies.
I previous life I had to fly twice a week for six weeks with two bust ribs. Doc said I could have done myself a serious one but it was work or go under. More painful taking off than landing , vitamin “I” and big gin helped.

Shame you cant take vitamin “I” its the only this that keeps me going. But always taken with food.

Good luck , it will pass.

I’ve broken ribs twice, a couple of days with codeine and it’s ok pain-wise. Worst part of the day was waking up and getting vertical, after that once you are moving it wasn’t too bad… just don’t sneeze.

Make sure you keep up with the deep breathing exercises.....I've seen too many people with fractured/broken ribs end up with Pneumonia as they avoided deep breathing and ensured the nasty bugs that can thrive in your lungs could multiply....
Regular paracetamol will help - don't wait until the pain comes on, codeine did nothing for me, but can...err...bung you up.... Brufen is OK, but avoid if you have asthma, diclofenac can work well with some people, but as above , I would avoid Naproxen.
It will get better, but can take weeks to settle down sadly!
