Seeing this reviewed on US sites and looking like a cracking piece of gear despite the $600 (so probably £600+) here price tag. Anyone here used one and/or have any idea when they will be available this side of the pond? Forgive me if this has been discussed already, but my fumbling search hasn’t turned anything up.

Bloody spellcheck. You are right. Can’t see a way to fix the thread title though. Meh. Anyone interested will work it out.

We were involved in the early stages of development of this and tested the first versions at the range. We were sworn to secrecy. We are and have been a Garmin agent/dealer for some years for Dog Collars and watches. This unit is truly outstanding and we expect to have a "test" unit quite soon. I made several posts on our social media but was asked to remove them until units became available, which I understand.

It will be available 1st quarter 2024, with no definite date as there are a couple of 'compliance issues' that need correcting. The retail price will be £529.99. We have first orders in and expect to have only a small number of what we have ordered. Demand in the US will far outstrip supply and that will likely be the same across Europe. I am again sworn to secrecy over how many of these things work, but suffice to say it is unlikely the UK allocation will satisfy demand for some time.

We are forbidden from taking pre-orders, however, we have our own list of "interested" parties who will be contacted on a first come first served basis when we know what our allocation will be. Existing Garmin dealers with a vested interest will likely fare better than new accounts. If there are any serious 'interested" parties, please do not hesitate to get in touch via e-mail or phone. Please do not PM here as I don't check very often!

So are they going to neuter this, just like they had to neuter the LabRadars? The UK has some strange EM restrictions....

Absolutely not, it's an EU regulation issue. US and EU cross compliance, nothing more. The units will be identical and will be in such short supply that it is extremely unlikely that anything from Europe will come back to the UK. I say come back to the UK, because all units destined for Europe come in to the UK initially!

Will there be any issue bringing one back from the states in hold luggage? I am off over there next year so may bring one or two back
Can’t think why there should be any issue, should you be able to get hold of one. Maybe not in hold luggage though. I’m assuming they have lithium batteries built in, which are frowned upon in checked luggage. Fire risk and all that. Carry it on. Certainly no national security issues or whatever. Your biggest risk might be customs dues. But no more than bringing in an iPad or whatever. <1% chance of being rummaged.

Just an update, that I used the new Xero on Friday, and my overall impression was VERY favorable. I think there will be a lot of used LabRadars and Magnetospeeds for sale in the future...

Very impressive, and very easy to use.

Suffice it to say, I think Garmin hit it out of the park. Out of the box, and into operation was a 5 mins process (download app, scan and link to Xero, and then toggle the menu for the type of firearm and velocity). Garmin has gotten VERY good at deploying small electronic devices...and it shows.

Yes, I saw one today and was very impressed...

I was on the range to chrono some loads with my magnetospeed V3, and the guy who was RO'ing said try this.. and put a Garmin on the bench in front of me..

Over a 10 shot string, the max, min and average matched between the Magnetospeed and the Garmin, but a couple of the individual velocities differed by a couple of fps...

Overall, very impressive, given the little bit of faff to fit the magnetspeed, the Garmin was just plonked down on the bench and pointed towards the target.

I will be keeping the magnetospeed though... unless the price of the Garmin drops by half..!!

We had a guy at our last monthly match use one of these:

Amazon product ASIN B00F1IFZCE
...and mounted it to the arca rail of his rifle chassis with the Xero on it, and then shot the entire match with it. He collected a LOT of good data.

Again, Garmin really hit it out of the park with the Xero. I've heard many say "This is by far, the best thing that has come out, tech wise, in our sport in a very long time".

If I didn't already have a magnetospeed Id definitely get one of these. So much easier than faffing with the barrel clamping arrangement on the magnetospeed

The price is very favourable and would be less than importing from the USA.

Wish I had seen this before ordering one from Area419. But hey I’m too impatient.

UPDATE

We still have no news on when we will see these units, so can only assume that 1st Quarter 2024 is still the position.

We now have quite a list of interested parties, who we will contact in order of enquiry, which is the fairest way. Anyone demanding to 'order' one will either be removed from the list or put to the bottom. I made it quite clear from the outset what we are allowed to do, we cannot and will not take forward orders. If you have contacted us and asked to be added to our list, we will contact you as soon as we know more, please do not badger us, we know as much as the next man. We are as keen to get these out there as anyone, but our hands are currently tied by Garmin.

Kind regards

HME
