Glos Police Authority and cabinet fixings, latest advice and experience. Please read if in Glos area.

They are possible official guidlines but way overkill. I hang 130kg aircon units on walls with 2 cantilever brackets using 6 x 10mm expanding anchors thats 3 in each and after 25 years have never had one fall off. My cabinets are fixed to the wall with 10mm expanding anchors and if plod can prove they will fail I will change them NOT.

Legally its very hard to say no to things you have said yeah fine to many times! I know a few safes that as regards HO guidelines they would not get the ok today but they exist
I know one farmer who has a gun clamp and his 12 bore in an umbrella stand with the coat rack continue over it hiding from view

your using knowledge to argue with stupid, your going to stuggle to win!
what would feos do if the holes in cabinet were only 10mm? or smaller?

Whatever!! as the kids say. It doesn't matter how good your cabinet or its fixings are, or even how good your alarm is, if they want in they'll get in. Hatton garden ring any bells?
Half an ounce of stuff I used to play with in each keyhole and the door will come off along with the cabinet and possibly the wall. Does create a problem regarding the usefulness of what you want to nick though.🤔

As has been said on many other threads before, it doesn’t take anything explosive.
Naughty people aren’t going to pry it off the wall with super human powers, they’re going to take a £30 Aldi battery powered angle grinder to it.

Yep, that's what they did to some of the boxed locks on our estate gates. If we knew which caravans we could perhaps return the compliment.😀

If they asked for a minimum of M10 would you all be arguing that M8 is fine. I really can't see what the fuss is about.

Pigeon watch at its finest lol lol lol

Oh no it the stalking directory Lol, lol

You couldnt make these conversations along with the back biting up lol lol ,lol I don't think it was this bad back in the playground at 10 years old LOL LOL

It is rather entertaining though

This is BS. Here is the Home Office guidance.

Section 2, nothing about minimum size of bolt for brick. Later on, it says 8mm for timber.

In the appendix, it says cabinet holes to be sized for at least 10mm bolts; but does not state 10mm bolts must be used.

If the police want you to pull your cabinet off the wall and refit with M12 bolts, show them the Hone Office guidelines.

This is just stupid. Gun cabinets are not high security. Go to a jewellers and see what a real safe looks like. Gun safes are a small step above a recycled baked bean can in strength. You will pull a cabinet apart progress you manage to pull it off the
Wall even with M8 bolts.
